Colorado Springs Rock Climbing
Climbing is inherently dangerous. Climb at your own risk. This is not an instruction on how to rock climb or where to rock climb, it is merely my opinion. Failure to learn how to climb and failure to learn about where and when to climb can lead to death. Get qualified instruction before climbing.
Colorado Springs is one of the premier rock climbing destinations in Colorado, offering world-class sandstone and granite routes within minutes of downtown. Rock climbing in Colorado Springs spans sport, trad, and bouldering, with grades ranging from beginner-friendly 5.5 climbs to highly technical 5.14 routes found in areas like Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and Cheyenne Canyon.
Thanks to easy access, year-round climbing, and a wide variety of styles, Colorado Springs attracts climbers of all levels. Popular areas can be busy on weekends, so early starts help with parking and route selection. Climbers should always follow local regulations, seasonal closures, and fixed-anchor guidelines to help preserve access to these iconic Front Range climbing areas.
